Dr. Jessica Conroy
Advisor, Quaternary Research
Brief info
Jessica L. Conroy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth Science & Environmental Change at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received her Doctor of Philosophy in Geosciences from The University of Arizona in 2011, and her Master of Science in Geosciences from the same institution in 2006.
Conroy's research is not limited to paleoclimate studies. She has also conducted research on microbial communities in tropical lacustrine sediment, as well as detrital zircon geochronology and provenance in the Midcontinental USA. One of her studies investigates how an extreme El Niño event affected microbial communities in a tropical lake. Another study examines the provenance of Pleistocene loess and contributing glacial sources in the Midcontinental USA.
Overall, Conroy's research covers a wide range of topics related to geoscience, including paleoclimate, biogeochemistry, and microbial ecology. Her research uses a variety of techniques and approaches, including stable isotope analysis, machine learning, and detrital zircon geochronology. Her research contributes to our understanding of the Earth's climate and the impact of human activities on the environment.
