Dr. Jukar is a formally trained vertebrate paleontologist and ecologist who specializes in the assembly of paleocommunities, extinction dynamics, and systematics and biogeography of Cenozoic mammals. He has conducted research in India and North America, focusing on fossil mammalian communities in the Mio-Pleistocene Siwalik Group, and late Pleistocene mammals from peninsular India. He has also conducted field work on Mesozoic ecosystems Montana, New Jersey, and Georgia in the United States, and Gujarat, India. He has funded his research through ~$400,000 in research grants and fellowships, and has published in both high impact generalist journals such as Science and Trends in Ecology and Evolution and field specific journals such as the Journal of Paleontology, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeogeography, and Palaeoecology, and Quaternary International. In addition to research, Dr. Jukar has been involved in informal museum-based education for the last decade, and is involved in developing paleontology exhibits for the Smithsonian institution and the Peabody Museum.
